Liberty POST’s STARS Preschool encourages learning through music, movement, and play. Our curriculum enables all children to take advantage of their educational and growth potential, regardless of ability, in our inclusive classrooms. Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) also get the benefit of working in an environment with a NYS-approved provider of therapy services.
- Inclusive classroom designed for students ages 3 - 5 with and without special needs. Special classrooms are available in our Irondequoit location only
- Half-day sessions
- Rochester locations – Mornings: 8:00 am – 10:30 am and Afternoons: 11:15 am – 1:45 pm
- Syracuse location - Mornings: 9:00 am - 11:30 am and Afternoons: 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm
- Low student to teacher ratios includes Certified Special Education Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Aides
- Qualifying students have access to Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathologist and other therapies on-site
- Students bring their own nut-free snack
- Classrooms use New York State General Education Pre-K Curriculum supported with a play-based approach
Sample Schedule
- Welcome To STARS – Preschoolers greet and interact with their teachers and classmates, hang up their backpack, and prepare for the day.
- Circle Time – Children enjoy language, cognitive, and social developmental activities including poems, stories, music and movement.
- Snack – Children bring a nut-free snack to refuel and enjoy each other’s company.
- Small Group Activities – Students participate in various child interest and goal-related learning centers, including arts and crafts, fine motor skill builders and sensory experiences. Preschoolers also enjoy working on literacy-focused activities.
- Gross Motor/Outdoor Play – Preschoolers stretch their growing muscles daily as they play cooperative games, play in the indoor motor room, and enjoy the great outdoors!
